How I Fell in Love With Plumbing

I’ve been plumbing for over 15 years now, and what pulled me into it was simple: I love working with my hands. There’s something incredibly satisfying about stepping back after a job and seeing exactly what you’ve built, fixed, or restored. That immediate sense of accomplishment never gets old.

From getting my hands dirty on muddy sites, to working inside spotless homes, to crawling under floors where only spiders & "nightmares" seem to live—I’ve always loved the challenge. Plumbing brings together problem-solving, reasoning, and logic in a way that just clicked for me. You walk into a home with a problem, and you leave knowing you made life easier for someone.

That feeling is unbeatable.

BTP was built on that passion—on taking pride in the small details, on doing things properly, and on genuinely enjoying the work itself. It’s more than just pipes and fittings; it’s creating outcomes you can stand behind.

How I Fell in Love With My Clients

When I started my business, something clicked almost immediately: you can have twenty plumbers rock up to your house, but only one will feel like the right fit. That idea fascinated me. It became a kind of game I genuinely enjoy—figuring out how to offer real value, build trust, and understand what each client truly wants.

The moment I realised that every single client becomes my boss, everything changed. I wasn’t just doing plumbing anymore—I was serving people. I was there to solve problems, calm stressful situations, and deliver the outcome they needed, not just the one that was easiest.

Most of the time, I’m walking into homes in the middle of an emergency. Something’s leaking, something’s blocked, something’s broken—and someone is stressed. That’s where I thrive. I love stepping in, bringing clarity, offering transparency, and showing exactly what’s happening with photos before, during, and after the job. People deserve to know where their hard-earned money is going.

But the part I fell in love with the most?

Meeting new people. Hearing their stories. Being invited into their homes in their most inconvenient moments—and actually being able to help.

I get to solve problems with my hands, make people’s day a little easier, and meet someone new almost every time. And somehow, I get paid to do all of that.

How good is that?

How I Fell in Love With My Community

Once I’d "mastered" the plumbing itself—and built real, genuine relationships with the people I serve—I realised there was something bigger I wanted to be part of. I wanted to give back. Not just to clients, but to the entire industry and the community that supports it.

After working with enough construction companies, it became impossible to ignore the gaps in the market. New homes and new builds were being delivered with standards that were far too low. Corners were being cut. Shortcuts were becoming the norm. And honestly, it wasn’t good enough.

So BTP was born with a clear purpose:

Bring back quality. Bring back service. Bring back real value.

I believe every home deserves workmanship that we would proudly accept in our own homes. That’s the bar. That’s the standard. And that’s the philosophy I carry into every job—big, small, emergency, maintenance, or construction.

I fell in love with the pipes.

I fell in love with the people.

And now, I’ve fallen in love with the community and the industry that shaped me.

For me, giving back isn’t a gesture—it’s the responsibility of doing things properly. It’s raising the standard one job at a time, and helping build a community where quality and care actually mean something again.
